Alvena Kureshi is an academic-turned-entrepreneur, building a start-up at Zinc Venture Builder that will transform the way we perform surgery. Her leading-edge research undertaken at UCL has spanned from engineering artificial corneas for the treatment of blindness to pioneering eco-friendly surgical materials that could revolutionise wound care. As a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, she brings a wealth of teaching experience to her passion for science communication and founded Professor Lightning Ltd; a children’s science education and entertainment enterprise that is on a mission to spark curiosity and encourage the kind of bold thinking that will shape the future. She was also a previous presenter for the Ri Science in Schools programme!
